A Note from the Founder

My Dearest Sisters,

As I sit down to pen this heartfelt note, my thoughts and emotions swirl, knowing that each word I write will reach the hearts of women who understand the pain, the longing, and the strength that comes with being a prison wife. Today, I want to share with you the very essence of why I founded the Prison Wives Society and the sisterhood it represents.

When I first embarked on this journey, I never anticipated the profound impact it would have on my life. It all started with a deep-seated understanding, a connection that transcends bars and boundaries. I felt compelled to create a space where women like us, who walk this path less traveled, could find solace, empathy, and unwavering support not only through shared experiences but also action with reducing recidivism for our love ones and love ones in our community.

My dear sisters, I know firsthand the myriad of emotions that encompass our daily lives. The sleepless nights spent pondering the unknown, the anguish of separation, and the constant battle against loneliness. I've shed countless tears, wrestled with overwhelming doubt, and carried the weight of our shared burdens. But it is precisely these experiences that have fueled the fire within me to build this sanctuary for us all. A world where broken homes are behind us and change happens through us and transcends to our love ones.

The Prison Wives Society is not just an organization; it is a refuge, a beacon of hope, and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It exists to remind you that you are not alone in your struggles, that your pain is understood, and that together, we can find strength and purpose.

In this sisterhood, we will celebrate the small victories and hold each other up during the darkest of days. We will be the listening ear, the comforting shoulder, and the unwavering support system that understands the complexities of our journey. No matter the circumstances that brought us here, we stand united, hand in hand, as a force of compassion and understanding for our selves and our incarcerated partners.

As you navigate this challenging chapter of your life, remember that your worth extends far beyond the prison walls. Your resilience, your unwavering love, and your enduring commitment to your husbands define you. Together, we will rise above the judgments, the misconceptions, and the isolation and build a community of hope, strength, redemption for generations to come.

May this note serve as a reminder that you are cherished, valued, and loved. The journey may be arduous, but we will walk it together, hand in hand. Lean on the support that surrounds you within our sisterhood, for in unity, we will find strength and solace.

With all my love and solidarity, Shante XOXOThe Founder of The Prison Wives Society
